An Employee Information Directory: Why is it Important?

Have you ever encountered any of these problems at your workplace?
  • You need to approach someone from another department but you don’t know who to approach.
  • Someone sent you an email but you don’t know who he/she is, his/her designation and which department he/she is from.
  • Your boss basically asks you to contact “John from Payroll”. You do not know what John’s last name is. You have no idea what John’s phone number or email address is.
  • You want to discretely know how long a certain person has been with the company.
  • You want to update your address or mobile number but it's a long process to get HR to do it.
While there are some companies who do not have an active, updated directory of their employees, it would not be advisable to forego this.
